From Oceania: Choose your travel destination

Where and when in Oceania?

In spring, temperatures begin to freshen, since the seasons are reversed compared to our hemisphere: Sydney Australia is heading slowly towards the winter, while Polynesia experiences a decrease in rainfall, such as New Caledonia, but temperatures with very little variation. Australia has a wide variety of climates throughout the years due to its extensive area. Neighboring islands and archipelagos, subject to a climate of equatorial or tropical, however appear relatively constant temperatures, but rain and winds undergo marine impacts. Tasmania and New Zealand are experiencing a type climate much more continental.

In summer it is winter at this latitude, and July and August are the coldest months in Australia (about 12 ° C in Sydney, which is actually quite acceptable!). This is a good time to visit, however, northern Australia, where the temperature is perfect and the center whose days are sweet and cool nights so no mosquitoes. The French Polynesia, especially Tahiti, then offers a climate drier and cooler, and a good underwater visibility diving enthusiasts will appreciate. In the South Island of New Zealand, it can freeze at that time!

In autumn, the sweetness comes quickly in Australia, and vegetation within the country is in full bloom, providing beautiful scenery. This is probably the best time to discover Sydney. In Polynesia rains resume more frequent. Tasmania has at this time of the year extremely changeable weather variations, alternating bright sun and torrential rains, creating spectacular rainbows in the sky. In New Caledonia, is the beginning of the warm period with possible risk of hurricanes: avoid if possible.

In winter, the summer reign on the Australian continent, celebrating Christmas in the sun in Sydney, and undergoes extreme heat in the center, while the North saw a very unpleasant moisture. Meanwhile Polynesia has significant rains, sometimes torrential. New Zealand saw its hottest months, and also seen an influx of visitors: better to wait a bit if you want to find in good conditions and with milder temperatures.
